The “intimate and heartfelt memoir” is slated for publication sometime in late 2022. “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become,” the Duke of Sussex said, going on, “I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story—the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned—I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.” The book will cover Harry’s experiences growing up as a member of the House of Windsor, his military career in Afghanistan, and the “joy he has found” in being a husband toMeghan Markleand a father to 4-year-old Archie and 1-month-old Lili. Its timespan will encompass everything from Harry’s childhood with his brother Prince William to his first encounter with the American actress he would go on to marry, from the death of his motherPrincess Diana to the Sussexes’ bombshell decision to step away as members of the royal family and relocate to California. With the world still reeling from many of the bombshell revelations that emerged from Harry and Meghan’s incendiary interview with Oprah Winfrey, the news of the book may come as an unwelcome shock to the royal family, who are still haunted by the couples’ allegations of racism and of a refusal on the royals’ part to support Meghan when she was struggling with suicidal thoughts. Describing Harry as “one of the most fascinating and influential global figures of our time”, Penguin Random House said the book will provide an “honest and captivating personal portrait, one that shows readers that behind everything they think they know lies an inspiring, courageous, and uplifting human story.” CEO of Penguin Random House, Markus Dohle, said it is a “privilege” to publish Harry’s “honest and moving” account of his life. “Prince Harry has harnessed his extraordinary life experience as a prince, a soldier, and a knowledgeable advocate for social issues, establishing himself as a global leader recognized for his courage and openness,” he said. Once Harry’s memoir is published, there will officially be two authors in the family—the Duchess of Sussex’s first children’s book, The Bench, topped the New York Times’ Bestseller List last month.
